A proper borehole pattern design for coal seam methane drainage in Tabas coal mine using Comsol Multiphysics

Optimizing the operational parameters of borehole pattern in coal seam includes maximum amount gas to be drained with least drilling, investment, and drainage time. The main purpose this research is properly design C1 Tabas mine. In research, Comsol Multiphysics software was used for numerical modeling boreholes. According method diffusion methane a seam, reduction concentration released from blocks were approximated. For boreholes, three patterns rectangular, parallelogram, triangular forms considered. Also, boreholes modeled diameters 76, 86, 96 mm. This performed 180 days operation showed that more suitable than other two patterns. presented model applicable mines where operations are necessary helps engineers maximize their efficiency.
